West Basin Municipal Water District's mission is to provide a safe & reliable supply of high quality water to the 17 LA County cities they serve.

West Basin was created by a vote of the people in 1947 to reduce groundwater over-pumping and to make local water supplies more reliable through new sources of water. WBMWD is a wholesale water agency that manages a diverse water supply from the Colorado River and Northern California, locally produced recycled water, desalted ground water and conserved water. West Basin is currently researching desalination as a drought proof supply of drinking water.
